When Yelp named the Top 100 Places to Eat in 2023 last week, one Rhode Island restaurant was on the list. Root, a plant-based, vegan restaurant in Newport, checked in at No. 59 on the list. It was only one of five restaurants in New England included among the 100.

The restaurant review website Yelp recently published its list of top 100 vegetarian restaurants in the United States and Canada, and a Newport spot made the cut.
